A quick history
For most of the 20th century, this was industrial Houston — freight, warehouses, and light manufacturing. The transformation kicked off when artists and small businesses took over the affordable warehouse space, and it accelerated when the sports venues and the METRORail arrived. Today EaDo blends that industrial bone structure with new bars, lofts, and galleries.
What to do
- Catch a game — Minute Maid Park (Astros) and Toyota Center (Rockets) are right on EaDo's doorstep, and the BBVA/Shell stadium anchors the soccer crowd.
- Brewery hop — EaDo has become Houston's craft-beer core.
- Find the murals — the neighborhood is an open-air gallery; the walls change constantly.

Getting around
EaDo is one of the more walkable pockets of a famously car-centric city, and the METRORail Green and Purple lines connect it straight into downtown. Stay here and you can leave the car parked for much of your trip.
